Temptation of One Dark Body

Temptation of One Dark Body seeks to recontextualize the black male body in terms of introspection, meditation and prayer - words that the black male body is supposed to be devoid of. This project builds off The Sweet Flypaper of Life by Roy DeCarava and Lagston Hughes in the way it combines photography and poetry. It aslo seeks to interpret Robert Mapplethorpe's images of black men and elevate the black body to more than just a sexual object. Temptation of One Dark Body is about the reverance and holiness contained in the black male body - naked and exposed for all to see. It is about honesty and what dialogue can come from it.
